Targeting Users Based Upon Activity On Their Phone And On The Web

By Yusuf Diab

In a nutshell, if you were able to target specific users that were migrating from their mobile applications to websites that they were looking at using their mobile browser, you would have a better idea of what the consumers were actually looking for and would be able to display advertising that could complement these types of searches. Google is working on a way to look at this cross comparison of information, and then integrated in such a way that ad delivery using mobile applications could be taken to a more proficient level.

Until now, the ability to track activity from your desktop, opposed to what you would do on yourself own, as simply been separate. Today, Google has decided to, with the help of other advertising networks, begin to move forward with combining this Intel into one source of information. The ability to track what people do is everything when it comes to marketing, and Google is at the forefront of changing how successful advertisers will be using the new technology they are about to implement.

Google's Ad Network - In the beginning, the ad network that Google provided was strictly through Adwords and Adsense. You can place ads that would show up either on major well-known websites, or on smaller websites created by those trying to earn money through placing ads on their site or blog.

What Google Says - Google has actually said that the testing has begun and considers it a very transparent method of gathering data. He also stated that it can help businesses become more profitable by running ad campaigns that will look at both mobile apps, and where they have gone on their browsers, to deliver the best ads possible. In just a few months, we might have the preliminary results for how well this type of advertising actually works.

One reporting company has stated that there is actually a merging technologies for both mobile phones and regular advertising methods that is able to still allow people with iOS and Android to properly block unwanted tracking yet still be presented with the best possible ads on the applications that they have downloaded which display them.

Unfortunately, this will not be in full effect for several months at least, and the results of the testing will not be known until a much later time. It is hopeful that this new technology that is being developed will make it better for those that have cell phones and advertisers that pay good money for using Google advertising.
