A Sample Checklist For Project Funding Europe

By Joshua Barnes

Probably as you are reading this right now you are searching for funds so that your project can push through. In fact you are quite excited about the viability of your proposal and the feasibility study attached to it, and all you will need for the final push for it to be realized is project funding Europe. Thus if you are looking for funds to get your project off the ground do read on for some information about European based funds.

Look out for Call for Proposals for funding on the internet, usually on the fund agencies sites. Usually these are general calls for proposals covering multi disciplinary fields while some calls for very specific projects for funding. See where yours will fit in and submit accordingly by the guidelines once you have polished it up. Project proposal calls for funds usually occur in the first six months of every year.

Prior to your submission, it may not hurt to get a grant expert to look over your proposal. Many experts dealing with grants do exist out there and they will work for a modest fee. However, some want to be paid by making them part of the project team should the proposal be accepted by the funding agency.

Get local European partners for your proposal, as this probably one of the main requirements for it to be funded. It is best that you have already identified a potential nongovernmental or even governmental organization on your proposal and have gotten their nod also. Thus it might be a good idea to have a Memorandum of Agreement or Letter of Intent handy with your prospective partner prior to your s submission.

When your application has been properly organized and beautified so to speak, then the next step will be to submit it. Once you submit it then it will be just a matter of waiting. Some of these applications can take up to fourteen weeks to be processed and looked at before you are notified of anything. Thus while you wait, it is a good idea to get busy with other things as well.

As such your proposal and application will be looked over and vetted by experts in the field. They will generate queries and such to be handed back to you for clarification but they will do this by setting up an interview panel with you. If you are scheduled for an interview panel to shed more light on what you are proposing then you are basically halfway there.

At the interview panel, there will usually be five experts to ask you questions. Thus you should be there with a select few members of your team as well should they ask very specific questions. You an prepare in general for this interview by brushing up on your ideas about viability, how the parameters will be monitored and evaluated, and if there will be an impact analysis done as a follow up once the project ends. These parts of the interview are usually given heavy weight in terms of points.

Should you pass this stage and be given the grant, expect a month to pass before you get any solid response. Once approved, do expect that they will just hand you the money on a silver platter. You will still need to submit project plan worksheets, man hour computations, monitoring and evaluation and such. You also will need to pass in terms of references for all team members, both present and for ones in the future as well.
