How To Meet A Nintendo Fanatic Online Friend In IRL

By Claudine Hodges

As a gamer, it is only natural to be active in on-line groups that deal with the types of online game that you love. This is the place where you get to meet a lot of people who have the same likes as you. It is also a place where you can speak about the same topics without running out of things to say to those individuals who are similar to you.

There are many other benefits that one can enjoy if he or she is enrolled in an active online community for games. This is especially fun for those who are Nintendo fanatic. It will be easier for you to look for friends who share similar hobbies as yours if you just join an active community for gamers.

When you are comfortable with the group, you might be asked to attend an IRL meeting. This is the meeting where you have to meet up with the friends you met in the online group. If you are about to attend an IRL meeting, then here are some of the tips you can follow to make the experience pleasant.

First, you got to know first where the meet up is before you say okay. This is so that you can decline if the place is not a safe one for you. If possible, you must only agree to attend a meeting if the said venue is at a public place. A good example of a public place you can host a meeting at is a local restaurant.

Bring a friend with you. Of course, you have to bring someone who will not ruin the mood when you are meeting up with the online friends you have made. This is a preemptive strike against any bad intentions that this online friend turned predator might have on you.

While you are expecting your online associate to not be creepy during this first meeting in real life, you should not be creepy yourself. You should not give off the impression of creepiness, especially during this first meeting. If possible, try to lay off on those jokes and acts that will give off a creepy impression to your friends.

You can rely on your instincts when making a decision as to whether or not you will attend an IRL meeting. When you feel like the person online is creeping you out and he or she asks you to meet up IRL, then you can simply say no. Do not be afraid to offend them since they do not really know you.

Do your own research. If someone has asked to meet up with you in real life, you have to get to know a little bit about them. Try to know some things about this person beforehand. This should allow you to determine whether or not this person is a weirdo. What you learn about this person can also be a conversation starter.

The things that you talk about with these new friends should be limited to what is okay to say to them. You have to keep a tight lid on some personal information, as a precaution as well. You should only be talking about things which are okay to be talked about with strangers.
