The head of product for LinkedIn announced his departure. Deep Nishar will be leaving the company after six years. This will mean some changes for the website. He will be leaving the company in October but still plans to be connected with it in some form after his departure.
It is hard to say how much will change but with any company, something like this means there will be some changes. It might take some time for the company to figure out what they will do in regards to his position. They will need to hire someone else and that will also change the company a little bit.
Nishar's last day with LinkedIn will be October 3rd. He will be handing over the oversight for the product to the company's CEO, Jeff Weiner. Jeff has been with LinkedIn for almost as long as Nishar, having joined LinkedIn from Yahoo. Nishar issued a statement of his own, saying that he is passionate about building and leading companies which have the potential to make a significant positive impact on the world. He hopes that he will have the opportunity to do the same thing again at his next company.
What will he be doing in the near future? He has decided to take up an advisory role for now with the company just to keep up with things. He will not be doing any heavy lifting and will most like move onto another challenge down the road. He is enjoying life for the moment and reaping the rewards of all the work he has done for both Google and Linkedin.
Nishar started working for LinkedIn when the website had about 30 million members, and the population of the site has grown tenfold since then. Nishar has not disclosed what he plans to do next, or which company he will be working with. He has joined several boards recently, and has made it clear that he wants to work with a company that has the potential to "make a significant positive impact". He has an advisory role with Auction.com, and is also a board member of TripAdvisor and Opower.
In a post on LinkedIn's website, Nishar said that the company is in great shape and that it is well on the way to its goal of mapping the global economy and helping to connect talent and opportunity. Nishar will be handing over the responsibility for product and user experience to LinkedIn's CEO, Jeff Weiner, who is a long-standing member of the company. He says that the team has a deep bench, and noted that it is "firing on all cylinders".
